Feb, Kathmandu : The CPN-Maoist is to initiate a process of unification with the UCPN (Maoist) in the wake of the decision of the ruling parties to seek resolution on the contentious issues through voting process at the Constituent Assembly (CA).
The party took the decision underlining the urgency of unity among revolutionary forces of the people’s war, and citing the agenda and value of the party’s drive towards change had fallen into an ambush. The CPN-Maoist is a breakaway faction of the UCPN (Maoist).
In a press conference held at the party’s central office at Buddhanagar here on Thursday, CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya said the process of unification between the revolutionary forces had started.
Baidya further said the forces of change were relegated to a minority following the second Constituent Assembly elections and the decision of merger was taken after Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) discarded the past agreements and tried to exclude UCPN (Maoist) including other forces.
CPN-Maoist central committee meeting held on Wednesday instructed the party office-bearers to expedite the process of unification with UCPN (Maoist). The party will also launch Mechi-Mahakali National Campaign beginning February 13 and ending on April 7. RSS
